Dr. Öğretim Üyesi Esma Nur Okatan 2006 yılında Gazi Üniversitesi Biyoloji Bölümünden birincilikle mezun olduktan sonra lisansüstü eğitimine Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Biyofizik Anabilim dalında devam etmiştir ve yüksek lisans eğitimi süresince Tübitak tarafından desteklenmiştir (BİDEP 2228-A). 2009'da aynı bölümde araştırma görevlisi olarak atanarak (33-a) doktora eğitimine devam etmiştir. 2015 yılında doktora eğitimini tamamladıktan sonra Sivas Cumhuriyet Üniversitesinde akademik hayatına öğretim üyesi olarak devam etmiştir. Cumhuriyet Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Araştırma Merkezi (Müdür yardımcısı) ve İleri Teknoloji Araştırma ve Uygulama Merkezinde (Western blot sistem sorumlusu) idari görevler almış ve protein analiz sistemlerini (western blot sistemi) hizmet verir duruma getirmiştir. 2015-2020 yılları arasında biri üniversite diğeri ise Türkiye Diyabet Vakfı (2016 En İyi Bilimsel Proje Ödülü kapsamında) tarafından desteklenen iki bireysel projeyi yürütücü olarak tamamlamıştır. In vivo ve in vitro deneysel diyabet/insulin direnci modellerinde araştırmalar gerçekleştirmiş ve diyabetik kardiyomiyopati/kardiyak insulin direncinin altında yatan elektrofizyolojik ve moleküler etkileşimleri incelemiştir. Dr. Öğretim Üyesi Esma Nur Okatan'ın Web of Science’ da taranan ve SSCI kapsamında 18 uluslararası araştırma makalesi bulunmaktadır ve bu makalelerin toplam atıf sayısı 396, h-endeksi 13 ve i10-endeksi 14’dür.
