The language of education for the Midwifery Doctorate Program, which started accepting students in the Fall semester of the 2023-2024 academic year, is Turkish. This program consists of an 8-semester education process. In the first three semesters, courses that improve the student's theoretical and practical experience are offered. In the fourth semester, the student is encouraged to take seminar courses in order to prepare for the proficiency exam, participate in programs that will increase knowledge in areas related to the thesis subject, and take part in research and publications produced from these research.
Students who successfully complete the proficiency exam as of the fifth semester move on to the doctoral thesis process. In cases where doctoral education is necessary, the study period can be extended to twelve (12) semesters. With this program; Midwives who are equipped with theoretical knowledge, can bring scientific innovation to midwifery practices, and can meet the theoretical and practical needs and demands of the midwifery profession will be trained. At the end of the training, the student who meets the conditions specified in the Istinye University Postgraduate Education and Training Regulation and successfully completes the credit courses, seminar, qualification process and doctoral thesis is awarded a Midwifery Doctorate diploma. These people are entitled to receive the title of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Graduates who complete the Istinye University Midwifery Doctorate Program can work as "expert midwives" in community health centers, family health centers, medical centers, rehabilitation centers, health institutions providing outpatient diagnosis and treatment services, organizations providing home care services, emergency health services, and all private and public hospitals. In addition to working as a "manager midwife", "education nurse", she can also work as an academic midwife in the Nursing and Midwifery Programs of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
